How to Remove Press-On Nails Safely (and Wear Them Again)

Taking off your press-ons is just as important as putting them on. Done gently, it protects your natural nails and keeps your set in perfect shape to wear again. The golden rule: never pull or force them off.

    What you'll need

    • A bowl of warm, soapy water
    • A few drops of oil (cuticle oil, or any oil you have at home)
    • The cuticle stick from your kit
    • A towel

    Step 1: Soak your fingertips
Add a few drops of oil to a bowl of warm, soapy water and soak your fingertips for a few minutes. The warmth and oil soften the adhesive tabs, so the nails release easily.

Step 2: Gently lift from the sides
Slide the cuticle stick under the side of each press-on and gently lift. Work slowly and ease it off rather than lifting it in one go.

Step 3: If it resists, soak a little longer
If a nail doesn't lift easily, don't force it. Pop your fingers back in the water for a couple more minutes and try again. Forcing a nail off can damage the surface of your natural nail.

Used nail glue instead of tabs? Glue holds more firmly, so allow a longer soak. Avoid putting acetone on your press-ons themselves, as it can damage the design.

Step 4: Care for your natural nails
Once all your nails are off, pat your hands dry and massage a little oil or hand cream into your nails and cuticles.

How to save your set for next time

    1. Peel off any leftover tab from the back of each press-on.
    2. Let the nails dry completely.
    3. Store them back in their box, in order, by left and right hand, so they're ready for round two.

Your kit includes tabs for 2 applications, so you can wear your set for up to 2 weeks in total. After that, give your natural nails a 1-week break before your next set.
