How to Make Your Press-On Nails Last: Everyday Care Tips
A great application is the start. A few easy habits do the rest. Here's how to keep your set looking flawless for as long as you wear it.
The first 1–2 hours matter most
Right after applying, keep your hands out of water, lotions and oils for 1–2 hours. This gives the adhesive tabs time to settle and grip properly.
Everyday wear
- Wear gloves for dishes and cleaning. Long contact with hot water and cleaning products is the quickest way to loosen your nails.
- Treat them like jewelry, not tools. Avoid using your nails to open cans, peel labels or scratch things off.
- Go easy on long hot showers and swimming. Heat and soaking can loosen the tabs sooner.
If a nail pops off
It happens, and it's an easy fix. Clean your natural nail with an alcohol pad, add a fresh adhesive tab, and press the nail back on from the cuticle toward the tip, holding it for 10–15 seconds.
How long your set lasts
- Up to 1 week per application with adhesive tabs
- Up to 2 weeks in total, using the spare tabs in your kit for a second wear
- Then a 1-week break for your natural nails before your next set
Storing your set between wears
Peel off any leftover tabs, let the nails dry, and store them back in their box in order, by left and right hand. Keep the box somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight.
