How to Apply Press-On Nails: A Step-by-Step Guide

Your set has arrived, and it's time for the fun part. Applying press-on nails takes about 15 minutes, and a little prep goes a long way: the better your nails are prepped, the better your set will look and the longer it will last.

Because every Just Naiil It set is made to your measurements, there's no sorting through sizes. Your nails are laid out in the box by left and right hand, ready to go.

    What's in your kit
Everything you need is included: adhesive tabs, a cuticle stick, a mini nail file and alcohol pads.

Step 1: Trim and file your natural nails
Cut and file your nails to your desired length and shape. Shorter natural nails make application easier and give the press-ons a smooth surface to sit on.

Step 2: Push back your cuticles
Gently push back your cuticles using the cuticle stick from your kit. This gives each press-on more room to sit flush against your nail, so it looks natural and grips better.

Step 3: Buff the nail surface
Lightly buff your nails with the mini nail file from your kit, or a buffer block, to remove the shine. A slightly matte surface helps the tabs grip.

Step 4: Clean with an alcohol pad
Wipe each nail with the alcohol pads included in your kit to remove any oils and dust. Don't skip this one: oils are the number one reason press-ons lift early.

Step 5: Apply the adhesive tabs
Peel an adhesive tab and place it directly on your natural nail, then press it down firmly. Prefer extra hold? Press down gently for 10-15 seconds for each nail.

Step 6: Apply from the cuticle and press
Remove the backing from the tab. Place the press-on starting at your cuticle, then gently press it down toward the tip. Hold firmly for 10–15 seconds. Repeat for each nail, and that's it.

    Tips for a longer-lasting set

    • Keep your hands dry for 1–2 hours after applying. Avoid water, lotions and oils while the tabs settle.
    • Work one hand at a time, starting with your non-dominant hand while you're fresh.
    • Press the sides too. After placing each nail, run your finger along the edges to seal them down.
    • Treat them like jewelry, not tools. Opening cans or scratching off stickers is the fastest way to lose a nail.

    How long will they last?
With adhesive tabs, each application lasts up to 1 week. Your kit includes tabs for 2 applications, so you can wear your set for up to 2 weeks in total. After 2 weeks, give your natural nails a 1-week break before your next set.
